webspace settings - file-upload via FTP

To set up your webspace you can use either an ftp programm or a File manager of chillydomains setup area. You will be solely explained here the ftp programm.

This guide is based on the ftp programm FileZilla. Other ftp programmes work quite similar.

You received all necessary data in the email, which informes you about the successful domain registration (subject: "The setup of your product is finished").

Create new Site
Select in the menu File > Site Manager and click on "New Site". Enter a name for your new site. When you use the site manager you do not need to enter your login data every time you want to update your website.

Host / Servertype
Enter your FTP-Hostname, e.g.: ftp.your-domain.com
As Servertype select "FTP" (Port 21).

User & Password
Use the username and password you received within the email "The setup of your product is finished".

Default remote directory
Please make sure, that you upload your files to the directory /httpdocs. Enter /httpdocs as default remote directory. Otherwise you will need to doubleclick on /httpdocs directory evrytime you upload files.

Connect
Click "Connect" to start the FTP-connection to your chillydomains webspace. When the connection was successful, you see the data structure on your webspace. Now you can upload your files. The file index.html is the entry-file to your website ("home").
